Devotional: Authentic Love

“Every day we are invited into a world where we can create, customize, and even change our identity. We become consumers in a culture that tells us we can have whatever we want whenever we want it.”

As I have mentioned in past blogs, The Transfer from Seeker to Mentor , I am starting to mentor a friend of mine. The devotional that we have been praying on and have recently started it Authentic Love by Amy-Jo Girardier. The quote that I opened this blog with is from her and on the back of the devotional.

When deciding what devotional to do I stepped back and let my friend decide. Being that this is the first time I am a mentor, I need to step back and ask her what she’s wanting to get out of this, what she needs from me, and how I can help grow her closer to God. That led us to this book, and I am loving it so far!

Authentic Love Overview

This is an 8 week series all about pursing God’s authentic love and what that means in todays world and society.

“Young women will examine five attributes of holiness that shape our identity. They will be challenged to reject the self-serving influences of culture and embrace what it means to live as godly young women who reflect the character of Christ.”

There is just one devotional book in this. As a leader, there is a guide in the back of the book to help guide through what to say, how to approach certain topics, and some extra “notes” space to plan out what topics you want to mention. This has helped me tremendously as a new leader, and my book is already filled with notes!

I can’t wait to continue to share this journey of mentoring with you all, and share all about this devotional. I think it is going to be really good for her and me. Just like the last devotional, check our my Instagram to find out more about the study and to keep up with me! I’ll link my Instagram, and the devotional down below!!
