Photography is a big passion of mine and something that I am trying to turn from a hobby into a career. While, yes, this is about how I find joy in photography.. this blog isn’t just for photographers. I am going to share how I find joy in photography, and you can use the same ideas for any passion/hobby/job you have!
Like most things… photography is something that can be really hard, but also super rewarding. As a photographer you have to constantly be looking for new places, the best shot, new editing apps, and the best gear or techniques. Sometimes I find myself getting lost in all the “hard” parts and forgetting that it is what makes me joyful and I need to go to God when I get too stressed.
How to focus on the joy of you’re passion:
Don’t get caught up in the challenges
Sometimes it can feel like you’re drowning in whatever you’re doing.. but trust me you aren’t! God would never let you fall into something you can’t get out of, so push through because there’s a brighter side if you look at the big picture.
Take a step back and look how far you’ve come
Sometimes you just need to pause and go “wow a year ago today I was nowhere near the talent level I am at today!” It’s little things like that, that can help you become joyous in your passions.
Know that you can always improve
One thing that can be tough is going from joyous to boasting. While you need to step back and see how far you’ve come, stay humble. One thing that upsets God is when we thing we’ve become supreme. When you reach that point it goes from joyous to boasting in your passion, and that’s not what God wants and it won’t last.
Be thankful, not everyone can do what you do
You are you for a reason!! God created you perfectly. My talents are not the same as your talents, or anyone else’s talents. I mean that in the best way, because we are all made in God’s image, and we all need to use our talents to glorify Him! So whatever your passion is be thankful that it’s yours, because nobody else can do it quite like you can!
I hope these ideas help you find joy in your passion/job! Now go shine through your own talents and make God proud of His child!
