Seeing 2020 with God

“Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.” – Ephesians 5:15-17

I don’t normally have a word of the year that I go by, but recently God’s put one on my heart. 2019 was hard. From beginning to end, there were a few ups and many downs. With that, I lost sight in what I love and let my circumstances get the best of my relationships, and my passions. I held on to God as tight as I could, but I wasn’t being intentional.

That’s my word of the year: Intentional. With my friends, with my family, with my words, and most importantly with God. No matter the circumstances I am dealing with, others are dealing with some we well. I need to be intentional in truly loving people like Jesus did. Most importantly, be intentional in pursuing God.

“Intentional – done on purpose; deliberate”

4 Ways I Plan To Be More Intentional in 2020

1. Time in the word – DEVOTIONAL

This year I aspire to be in the word, and challenging my faith this year. A way to be intentional with my relationship with God, is to constantly be learning about Him. I have a couple devotionals that I am excited to start, and will do blogs about them so you all can join me in the journey!

2. Like – Minded Crowd

This is sooo important, especially in the time of life I am in right now. Being around like-minded people will help us keep on track. Whether it’s in school, doing homework, going shopping, or at church; having friends who are followers in Christ is vital. This is your support system and the people who can help you make the most important decisions. I aspire to surround myself with people who love Jesus. Now don’t get me wrong, mixing up friends is good so that you can inspire others. But a core group to do life with is so important.

3.  Relationships

Whether its friendship, family, or a relationship; I am focusing on being more intentional. Texting them first to check on them, asking to go on a coffee date to talk and catch up. It’s the little things that mean a lot, they definitely add up. A great way to do this is figure out their love language, once you know this do little things that fall into whichever one theirs is! Taking the time to put their needs first, and thinking of them maybe when they think nobody else is. That’s intentional!

4. Self Care

This may seem like the big trend, but it is so good and so important. Taking care of yourself needs to be a priority. This year I am focusing on eating healthy, working out, and being more in tune with how I am feeling. Life can be so busy and crazy, it’s important to slow down and breathe. One way I am going to do this is make sure I schedule rest times in my week, that won’t budge, before I create my busy schedule around it.

I am excited to continue on the year being intentional. I think this will help me grow in all my relationships, and knowledge of the Lord.

With all this I’m asking YOU for help. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we are each others accountability partners! We need to be in community with each other in Christ. Help keep me accountable, as I would love to do it with you too! Comment below or message me your goals, plans, or word for 2020 and let’s keep each other focused on God seeing 2020 this year.
