How to Spring Clean your Spiritual Life

Warm weather is on the way! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for it. Currently I’m on my Spring Break, and I’m doing some spring cleaning with my mom. One thing that is super important to clean out is our spiritual life, and we often forget that it needs a refresher.

I’m taking advantage of this break, to step back and get on track with God.

Here are 6 things that I will be doing to help get back on track with God this Spring, and I challenge you to do them as well!!

6 Tips to Spring Clean Your Spiritual Life

1. Ask for forgiveness of your sins, shortcomings, and failures.

This is the first step (and only step) in this list. In order to get a fresh start, or clean up some things in our life; we have to let God know that we’re sorry for the past and that we realize that we need a clean slate. This is an easy prayer to say, and it’s not scripted. Just speak from the heart and ask for forgiveness.

2. PRAYER

This is so important. You’re in a relationship with God. Relationships thrive on communication. Communicate with God through prayer. It doesn’t matter how long, how short, or how professional sounding the prayer is; what matters is that you’re talking to Him. He hears you and listens. You will grow in your walk the more you talk to God.

3. Seek God out in everything

He’s with you! He’s everywhere! Once you spend your day trying to find God in your day to day life, you’ll see that he’s with you all the time. This will give you a new hope and reassurance in your walk. It makes you ready to take on the day, knowing that He’s with you all the time, even in the little things.

4. Get an accountability partner

Friendship and fellowship is such a good thing when handled the right way. An accountability partner is not meant to be mean or make you feel less than, but meant to encourage and keep you on track. Sometimes, I know for me especially, it’s nice to have friends who know my goals and are there to help me achieve them.

5. Explore His Creation

Go for a walk, watch there sunset/sunrise, sit outside! God created the Heavens and the Earth, and we get to enjoy his handmade creation every day!! Don’t forget that. Go outside and explore new places and see the power of God. The power He has, that lives in us as Sons and Daughters of God.

6. Try a new worship playlist or notecard method

Everyone memorizes and worships in different ways, so these can be an “or” option not “and”. (But totally an “and” if you want!!) For those that always have headphones with them, have a speaker, or are in the car often.. try out a new worship playlist. Ask around and find out what others favorite worship and encouraging songs are. On the other hand, for those that read a lot, are home bodies, and need visuals.. make notecards with inspirational quotes on them or bible verses. Meditate on them and memorize them. Both of these ways are great to worship. Neither one is better, because they both praise God and get our minds centered on Him!

I hope you all join me and refresh your spiritual walk this month. If you have any questions or want more tips, please don’t hesitate to ask me! I’m working on this just like you, and there is no better way to do this, than together !!
